Art Book Osaka brings together artists, publishers, bookstores, and galleries from Japan and abroad, offering a platform for creative encounters and challenges centered around art books*. It is the largest art book fair in the Kansai region, having made its debut in 2024 as an international event attracting attention from places such as Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea.
As a place where “anyone can take on challenges,” the event provides opportunities for all artists, whether professional or amateur, to showcase their work. For visitors, it offers a valuable experience by “allowing easy interaction with artists,” giving them a chance to learn about the background and thoughts behind the works through direct conversations. Additionally, it is a space to “experience the charm of printing” and rediscover the value of physical media.
Art Book Osaka aims to foster creative exchanges and inspiration, supporting the activities of artists and growing into a larger, internationally recognized art event.
*An "art book" refers to a booklet or ZINE that compiles an artist's works or their explanations into a collection. These artist-edited, genre-defying publications, rarely found in ordinary bookstores, come in various shapes, sizes, and page counts. An "art book" is freely crafted based on the artist’s creative vision without constraints on format or price.

01. ABOUT

What is Art Book Osaka?

Art Book Osaka is a book fair focused on art-related publications, organized by the Art Book Osaka Executive Committee with support from the Art Tokku (Daishinsha Delight Inc., PLANT/ART Lab OMM). The first event was held in May 2024 in Osaka. This fair aims to provide opportunities for artists, both in Japan and abroad, to showcase and sell their work, and to offer the general public a chance to engage with art in a meaningful way. In a time when digital media is on the rise and print media is becoming less prominent, Art Book Osaka also highlights the craftsmanship of printing and bookbinding, bringing attention to these industries.
With the support of exhibitors, visitors, and sponsors, Art Book Osaka continues to grow, providing a platform for creative connections through art. The event is planned to be held annually, with an expanding scale each year.
